Thematic chronicle

From Angelina Jordan Wiki

This is a thematic chronicle of Angelina's career. It focuses on the more visible parts of her career, providing more context than the timeline while not being as detailed.

For an even more compact presentation, there is also the career overview available.

Note: Song titles are linked, as usual, to the song-specific articles. Individual performances are linked separately. In the case of YouTube links, this is done with the small red play button after the song title (" πŸž‚ ") which you can select (instead of the the song title) to see video of the specific performance.

2013

Starts recording in a studio

Angelina started to record songs in the Bjerke Lydstudio in spring of 2013, when also the first video of her performing πŸž‚ β†— (or at least the first of those still available and known) was uploaded to YouTube on 2013-06-04. This sound studio is not a commercial studio, but is part of a municipal supported offering of performing arts type education to children and juveniles.[1]

A couple of more videos from this time and location were uploaded years later on the Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz YouTube channel, which was apparently started by her grandmother Mery. Note that although some of these video titles state that Angelina would be six there, they are more likely all from about the same time in spring 2013, when Angelina was already seven years old.[2]

First festival appearances

In a later interview, Angelina's mother Sara stated that Angelina had been performing at small jazz festivals and the Melafestivalen before her Norske Talenter appearence.[3] So this was very likely also in 2013, where the latter started on 2013-08-16.

The only known footage πŸž‚ β†— of her performing at one of those earlier festivals is from the VAD-festivalen of 2013-12-01, where she performed "Hurt".

Auditions for Steven Van Zandt

Likely also around this time, she auditioned↗ with "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" for Steven Van Zandt, who is not only the main actor, but also the producer and the director of the Lilyhammer episode in which she played a bar singer in a guest role in the following year. Also, his advice was likely relevant for Sara's decision to let Angelina audition for the next season of Norske Talenter.[4][5]

2014

First TV appearances at age 8

Norske Talenter

In early 2014, Angelina auditioned πŸž‚ β†— for with "Gloomy Sunday" for Norske Talenter, which is the Norwegian version of the Got Talent TV show franchise. This was only aired on 2014-03-07, after she had already sucessfully performed πŸž‚ β†— "I'm a Fool to Want You" in the second round a month earlier. Her audition was then also uploaded to YouTube and went immediately viral. It became also a topic on international news media.

Angelina performed πŸž‚ β†— "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" in the live semi-final. In the final show, she peformed πŸž‚ β†— "Summertime", and won the competition with 46% of all votes spilt among the 10 finalists.

Background stories and interviews

Due to the huge public interest to the airing of her audition, she was two weeks later invited to the Senkveld med Thomas og Harald (short: Senkveld) late night show, where she was interviewed by the hosts, and performed πŸž‚ β†— "Fly Me to the Moon".

During and after the competition, she also appeared in more TV features, e.g, in this segment πŸž‚ β†— from 2014-03-29, where a clip of her singing Whitney's version of "I Will Always Love You" at an age of just 18 month, was shown. Also it showed a fragment of her performing "I (Who Have Nothing)" at the Bjerke Lydstudio, which must have been recorded just a couple weeks earlier.

Subsequent TV appearances

In early summer, she had guest appearances at the Sommerkveld Med RedningsskΓΈyta show on 2014-06-23, where she performed πŸž‚ β†— "Summertime", and at Allsang pΓ₯ Grensen, were she premiered πŸž‚ β†— What a Diff'rence a Day Made, which was aired the day after on 2014-07-03.

US debut

In September, Angelina was shown on US national television πŸž‚ β†— in the ABC show The View, where she was interviewed by Rosie O'Donnell and performed "Fly Me to the Moon".

Kongsberg Jazz Festival

On 2014-07-03, the day after her Allsang pΓ₯ Grensen performance was recorded, she performed πŸž‚ β†— "Summertime", "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)", and "Fly Me to the Moon" at the Barnivalen [The Children's Festival] of the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. She was supported by the guitarist and the trumpet player (for "Summertime" only), who had already accompainied her to these songs at Senkveld and on the live shows of Norske Talenter.

Later the same day, she performed the same three songs πŸž‚ β†— with the same musicians at a 40th anniversary celebration of one of the festival's main sponsors, FMC Technologies.

My Christmas maxi single

On 2014-12-14, her My Christmas maxi single gets released, containing "White Christmas", "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus", and "Silent Night". While she promoted these songs with small snippets showing her in the recording booth, the full tracks were not officially released on YouTube, but are only available on dedicated music streamig and purchasing platforms, such as on Spotify↗ or Apple Music↗.

She did, however, present all three titles on (different) TV shows, and there are recordings from those performances availalbe, see further below.

Even more TV appearances

In December Angelina had again several TV apperances, in Norway, Sweden, and Germany. The earlier ones where mainly charity related, while the later ones were on Christmas shows, where she presented songs from her just released My Christmas maxi single.

Charity related

Noble Peace Prize event

Angelina sang at the Redd Barnas Fredsprisfest [Save the Children Peace Prize Party], broadcast live on NRK on 2014-12-10,[7] a few hours before the Nobel Peace Prizeβ†— was awarded to Kailash Satyarthi and Malala Yousafzai. The event took place at RΓ₯dhusplassen [City Hall Square], a plaza in front of Oslo City Hall. She sang "What a Wonderful World" twice in the same location, once at 11:17 a.m. and again at 11:49 a.m. πŸž‚ β†—. For the first performance, sung only for the crowd (as the prize winners had not arrived yet), she was backed by a live band. Her second performance, sung in front of β€” and dedicated to β€” the prize winners, was sung over a prerecorded instrumental track.

Christmas songs

Lilyhammer

Angelina also had a guest role as a bar singer in the last episode of season 3 of the Netflix/NRK dark comedy series Lilyhammer.

Her bar scene πŸž‚ β†— performing "I'm a Fool to Want You" was likely filmed in the last week of May 2014.[9][10] She also contributed "Gloomy Sunday" as background music for a scene πŸž‚ β†—, which was only part of the Norwegian Netfilx version of the episode.

Her participation was only made public when she appeared at a red carpet event for the new season at the end of October that year, which was also in the news on TV.[11]

While the whole season became available at Netflix on 2014-11-21, Angelina's episode was aired by NRK only on 2014-12-17.[12]

Other activities

Many more small concerts or guest appearances

Angelina did have a lot more guest appearances or tiny concerts that year, most of which only got visible years later when her grandmother Mery published many video she took on her Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz YouTube channel. For many of these videos, the exact event, location and/or date is unknown. What is remarkable, is that she played with lots of different musicians for accompainment, as these were likely in many cases a given event band.

Here we only discuss the most notable ones. More are listed in the 2014 event listing of the performance database.

Concert for the prime minister

By mid of June, so within a couple of weeks after she won Norske Talenter, Angelina performed πŸž‚ β†— "Bang Bang", "Fly Me to the Moon", and for the first time the full version of "Summertime" for Norway's prime minister Erna Solberg and members of her cabinet.[13][14] Here she was accompanied for the first time by Egil Clausen[15], in addition to Eivind Hannisdal, who was the trumpet player at the Norske Talenter final.

Orkla Growth Awards

In November she sang "At Last" πŸž‚ β†— and likely also "My Funny Valentine" at the Orkla Growth Awards (a consumer-goods industry event). There are videos of a series of takes at the on-stage rehearsal with the band that showcase Angelina's hard work to achieve the best result for her performances, both for "At Last" πŸž‚ β†— and "My Funny Valentine" πŸž‚ β†—.

Radio appearance

Angelina has been interviewed πŸž‚ β†— on the P4s radiofrokost [P4's radio breakfast] radio program on 2014-12-17, where they talked among other things about her recent appearence on the German Ein Herz fΓΌr Kinder benefit TV show, her recently published "White Christmas" cover (which was also played), and that she would be already working on a jazz record, which would feature a big band and a strings orchestra. The jazz record mentioned later turned out to be her first EP named "Angelina Jordan – The EP", which was only released in late 2017, and which we will be discussed further below.

2015

Angelina Jordan – The EP activities

As Angelina had explained in a radio interview in late 2014, she was working on a new jazz record and had already been in the studio for it. This later turned out to be named Angelina Jordan – The EP.

There are hints, that the filming of three music videos for its tracks was done by fall of 2015:

Further, her released lyrics video πŸž‚ β†— for "What a Diff'rence a Day Made" uses the same backing track as her live performance at the Mediacorps Campus Opening of 2015-12-08. And the "Our Day Will Come" recording (there is only this low quality copy πŸž‚ β†— available online) uses the same backing track that can be heard in a soundcheck at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival, which was done a couple days earlier.

Thus, assuming that the EP's audio tracks were recorded before these events, it is likely that all of the recording for the first five EP tracks was done between late 2014 and fall of 2015.

Live appearances in late spring/early summer

It seems as if – after she had been very busy towards the end of 2014 – Angelina was taking a five months break before she again started to performed in public.

Festivals

We know of three concerts of hers at festivals within a month in late spring/early summer.

For the last one, there is a recording of the whole concert of nine songs πŸž‚ β†—, plus a seperate one with the encore πŸž‚ β†—, which was a repetition of the first song performed. So besides the titles known from her before ("At Last", "Bang Bang", "Fly Me to the Moon", "Summertime", "What a Difference a Day Makes", and "What a Wonderful World"), she added with these concerts ""I Feel Good", "Our Day Will Come", "Unchained Melody" (at Nattjazz), and "When You're Smiling" to her known repertoire.

Charity events

Between the last two of these concerts, she also had two guest apperances at charity related events:

Mellom to hjerter childrens book

It then took another couple of months, before she reappeared on TV, talking about her upcoming childrens book πŸž‚ β†— Mellom to hjerter [Between Two Hearts] on the Lindmo+ talk show. Before they talked, she had performed a short version of "Unchained Melody" πŸž‚ β†—. This remained her only dedicated performance on Norwegian TV this year.

Her book was published two days after this talk show was aired. The book, based on Angelina's diary entries and illustrated by her grandmother, is about an experience she had when she was 6 years old, which is the reason she is always barefoot when she sings in public.

International travel

Brazil

In November she traveled to Brazil, where she performedβ†— "What a Diff'rence a Day Made" and a short a cappella snippet of "Fly Me to the Moon" πŸž‚ β†— at the Encontro com FΓ‘tima Bernardes+ talk show. She also performed these two titles and "What a Wonderful World" πŸž‚ β†— at the Jotun plant opening+, which was also attended by Prince Haakon of Norway.

Qatar

In early December, she performed several songs at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival+ in Qatar, like "Our Day Will Come" at the soundcheck πŸž‚ β†—.

Singapore

Shortly after that, she performend "What a Diff'rence a Day Made" πŸž‚ β†— at the Mediacorps Campus Opening+ in Singapore, which was also aired.

Christmas concert appearance

On 2015-12-21, Angelina joined the last concert of Mia Gundersen's Christmas tour at Victoria Scene in Oslo as guest artist, apparently singing "What a Wonderful World" in a duet with Gundersen πŸž‚ β†— and performing – for the first in public – "Feeling Good" πŸž‚ β†— solo.

2016

Social media activities early in the year

On 2016-01-24, Angelina celebrated reaching 100k subscribers on Facebook with a livestream, where she performed "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" πŸž‚ β†—. And three weeks later, on 2016-02-14 Valentine's day, she had an Instagram live, singing "My Funny Valentine" πŸž‚ β†—. At the time, her earlier performances from the 2015 live events had not yet been uploaded to YouTube yet, so these were basically the Internet premieres of these two titles.

Angelina Jordan – The EP activities

On 2016-04-22, she recorded with musician's from KORK (NRK's radio orchestra) a cover of "Back to Black" πŸž‚ β†—, though with her own, improvised lyrics. The performance was broadcast and uploaded to her YouTube channel the next day. Which makes the song the last title she recorded for her later EP, and the first which was published.

She released two more covers from the upcoming EP that year: "I Put a Spell on You" as a music video πŸž‚ β†— in late September, and "What a Diff'rence a Day Made" as a lyrics video πŸž‚ β†— in December, just before Christmas.

International travel

In May Angelina performed at two charity releated events in the USA, and at another one in early June in South Korea.

Concerts

Kongsberg Jazz Festival

In July, she performed on four different stages at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival. She played at the first and last occassion with a small jazz band, while for the second and third gigs she was accompanied by the amateur Kongsberg Big Band:

  1. performed on the first day at the Barnivalen scene (no known video footage),
  2. sang on the second day "Summertime", "What a Difference a Day Makes", "Fly Me to the Moon", and "Feeling Good at a "Gulljazz" event at the Skavangertun nursing home, πŸž‚ β†—
  3. sang two days later in the afternoon "Summertime" and "Fly Me to the Moon" at an outdoor stage πŸž‚ β†—
  4. sang later the same day "Every Time We Say Goodbye", "What a Difference a Day Makes", "Fly Me to the Moon", and "Feeling Good" in the Kongsberg Musikkteater (main auditorium) πŸž‚ β†—, opening for Melody Gardot

Alan Walker Is Heading Home concert

In December, just before Christmas, she performed two Alan Walker songs – "Sing Me to Sleep" and "Faded" – with him in restrung versions at his Alan Walker Is Heading Home concert in Bergen πŸž‚ β†—. This was also offered as a livestream.

TV appearences

In spring

In April, she appeared the second time on US television, again with "Fly Me to the Moon", now on the Little Big Shots show πŸž‚ β†—.

As we had already mentioned above, she was also seen a week later on Norwegian NRK TV, performing "Back to Black" with KORK πŸž‚ β†—.

In summer

At the end of June she peformed "Feeling Good" at Allsang pΓ₯ Grensen, which was broadcast the next day. πŸž‚ β†—

A couple days later, she sang "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye" at God Sommer Norge from a rooftop, accompanied again by Tommy Kristiansen πŸž‚ β†—.

In August, her performance of "Summertime" at the Ønskekonsert [Wish Concert] by KORK was broadcast πŸž‚ β†—, which had already been recorded in June.

In December

Similar to 2014, she appeared in December on several charity and/or Christmas releated shows:

2017

Recording & release activities

Early year recording

In early January she recorded the "I'm Still Holding Out for You" demo πŸž‚ β†—, which got leaked in late 2018. The song was co-writen by the authors of her later published original "Shield", and also was recorded with (parts of) them. This makes it likely that "Shield" πŸž‚ β†— was also created around that time.

Likely by March[16], she recorded the Linked-in Ad πŸž‚ β†— of "Fly Me to the Moon", which she posted to her YouTube channel on 2017-12-10.

Angelina Jordan – The EP release activities

Angelina continued to release the previously recorded music videos of songs on her upcoming EP, such as

The Angelina Jordan – The EP itself was released only as physical CD in late November. It also contained the previously unreleased cover of "Our Day Will Come". There is only this low quality copy πŸž‚ β†— available online.

Cover Channel started

In September she started to upload to her new, second YouTube channel, the Angelina Jordan CoverChannel, the first one being "Can't Help Falling in Love" πŸž‚ β†—. By the end of the year she had posted a total of four cover songs accompanied by Egil Clausen on guitar.

It's Magic recording

In late November she spent two days in Rainbow Studio recording her first full length It's Magic with Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps. She sang on 13 of its 16 tracks (the remaining three being instrumental), including her first two original songs, "What Is Life" πŸž‚ β†— and "Oslo" πŸž‚ β†—. They and the rest of the album were released in June of the next year.

TV appearances

Little Big Shots UK and Germany

Angelina was performing "What a Diff'rence a Day Made" πŸž‚ β†— on the first episode of Little Big Shots UK, which premiered on 2017-03-01, while it had been recorded already by early November of the previous year.

She also appeared in April with "I Put a Spell on You πŸž‚ β†— on the German version of the show, called Little Big Stars. That was likely recorded in early February, when she had posted a picture of her in front of Cologne Cathedral.[17]

Allsang pΓ₯ Grensen

In early July, she performed for the third time at Allsang pΓ₯ Grensen, now with two new titles in her repertoire, "It's Now or Never" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Something's Got a Hold on Me" πŸž‚ β†—.

Guest appearances & concerts

This year she also had some guest appearences that we know about, which were

New Year concerts

From Jan 6th to 8th Angelina had a series of concerts in Kolbotn to celebrate the New Year, performing several songs with the OppegΓ₯rd Janitsjar amateur band, directed by BjΓΈrn Morten KjΓ¦rnes. This included her likely first live performance of "I Put a Spell On You" πŸž‚ β†—.

Travel to Asia

In late March, she performed at the Dojima River Forum in Japan, where she also sang for the first time in Japanese, with "Kawa no nagare no yō ni" πŸž‚ β†—. Prior to this, she apparently was also interviewed on Japanese TV and radio.

A couple weeks later, she returned to South Korea, where she performed at the Muse in City festival πŸž‚ β†—.

Summer concert tour

In July, she had four concerts with quite a big jazz band. They performed

With these concerts, she added "Cry Me a River" πŸž‚ β†—, "Diamonds Are Forever" πŸž‚ β†—, "I Just Want to Make Love to You" (as "I Just Want to Love You" πŸž‚ β†—), and "Strangers in the Night" πŸž‚ β†— to her catalog.

Christmas concert tour

In December, she had a big Christmas concert tour with the jazz band The Real Thing and the singer Sigrid Brennhaug, which took her to 16 locations in churches and city halls, on 15 dates, over the course of three weeks.

Here she added "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year" πŸž‚ β†—, "Can't Help Falling in Love" & "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!" (same clip πŸž‚ β†—), "The Christmas Song" πŸž‚ β†— , "All I Want for Christmas Is You" πŸž‚ β†—, "Crazy (Willie Nelson song)" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Mary's Boy Child" πŸž‚ β†— to her live catalog.

On 2017-12-15 she is interviewed on the Spillerom radio show on NRK P2, where she also performs the last three songs mentioned, accompanied by the band's guitarist Staffan William-Olsson.

2018

Relocation to Los Angeles

By early March Angelina had relocated to Los Angeles, where she now got accompanied by Ivan Mendez on guitar until the end of summer, both for live events, such as the Gala de Danza+ in Mexico, and home studio covers.[18]

According to Nico Cartosio, who composed "Song for A", she recorded her vocals for that in Los Angeles, likely in the 2nd half of 2018, after the instrumentals were recorded with an orchestra in Abbey Road Studios in summer.[19][20]

However, it was also said (and could be observed) that she still shared her time between Los Angeles and Norway.[21]

Cover channel & socials

In early 2018, Angelina uploaded several covers, some of which were likely already recorded in 2017, like "All of Me" πŸž‚ β†—" by Billie Holiday, and "Ain't No Sunshine" πŸž‚ β†— by Bill Withers.

In March she uploaded first cover with Ivan Mendez, "Always on My Mind" πŸž‚ β†—, which she did as a tribute to her grandfather, who had passed just a few days earlier.

Some more of the remarkable covers she and Ivan did together include "Million Years Ago" πŸž‚ β†—, "Stay" πŸž‚ β†—, "California Dreamin'" πŸž‚ β†—, "I'm Not the Only One" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Wake Me Up" πŸž‚ β†—, as a tribute to Avicii who had passed in April. Though the latter two were only uploaded later by Mery, as some other covers Angelina did at the time.

She also posted more covers she did with a backing track, like "Young and Beautiful" πŸž‚ β†—, and "A Natural Woman" πŸž‚ β†— as a tribute to Aretha Franklin, shortly after her death.

Angelina also performed "Wicked Game", accompaining herself on a keyboard, and posted some short clips to Instagram. Later Mery posted the complete song with a slide show video, and a fan created a music video πŸž‚ β†— from that, incorporating the instagram clips.

TV appearances

In April, an episode of Tangerudbakken Borettslag was aired, in which Angelina meets Hege-Anette Havik at the PrΓΈysenhuset and sings backup to Hege-Anette on "JΓΈrgen Hattemaker". πŸž‚ β†—

In November, she premiered her third original song "Shield" πŸž‚ β†— on the Skavlan talk show. Starting with this, she no longer performed in her traditional white dress appearance, but instead in very colorful outfits.

Concerts

Summer events

During late spring and summer, Angelina had several concert performances in Europe.

It's Magic album-release concert

First she premiered in mid June her album recored with the Forsvarets Stabsmusikkorps at the It's Magic album-release concert at Karpedammen, singing all 13 songs she sings on the album.[22] These included her two new orignal songs "What Is Life" and "Oslo", as well as some other titles she had not sung in public before, such as "Cheek to Cheek" πŸž‚ β†—, It's a Man's Man's Man's World πŸž‚ β†—, "It's Magic" πŸž‚ β†—, "Mr. Lonely" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Speak Softly, Love" πŸž‚ β†—.

Quincy Jones' 85th Birthday Celebration

Late in June, she opened Quincy Jones' 85th Birthday Celebration with "Fly Me to the Moon" πŸž‚ β†— at London's O2 Arena, and later in the show sang in a joint vocal performance of "Man in the Mirror" together with other performers.

Kongsberg Jazz Festival

In early June, she performed at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival with a small jazz band in the Kongsberg Musikkteater. Besides performing several songs from her new album, she did more covers, including some done for the first time live, like "Born to Die" πŸž‚ β†— and "Dream a Little Dream of Me" (soundcheck πŸž‚ β†—), and two completly new ones, "Rehab" πŸž‚ β†— and "Unchain My Heart" (soundcheck πŸž‚ β†—).

Already two days earlier she perfomed a few songs πŸž‚ β†— (namely "Fly Me to the Moon", "What Is Life", and – for the first time – "Valerie") with the same band (but lacking the drummer) at the TechnipFMC JazzFest, which was a company event of one of the festival's main sponsor.

Christmas concerts

In December, shortly before Christmas Angelina had four Christmas Concerts on two consecutive days at the PrΓΈysenhuset, where she was again joind be the same small jazz band as in Kongsberg that summer, except for a new drummer. She performed all three of her new originals, as well as many cover songs, including some new titles in her repertoire, such as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town" πŸž‚ β†—.

2019

Recording

In early 2019, Angelina recorded the song "Smile" πŸž‚ β†— in Rainbow Studios as the title song for a documentary about the late Norwegian poker player Thor Hansen.

She recorded likely also this year the vocals for the EDM song "Above the Water", which was released by TRXD in early 2020

The mainly instrumental album "Melting" by Nico Cartosio was released in April, featuring her on the only song of the Album, "Song for A" πŸž‚ β†—.

In August she uploads a music video πŸž‚ β†— of "Shield" to her official YouTube channel, subtitled "Artistic Video by Mery Zamani".

Cover channel and socials

This year Angelina posted with "I Have Nothing" πŸž‚ β†— by Whitney and "All of Me" πŸž‚ β†— by John Legend her two most successfull covers of her cover channel. More remarkable performances included "The Show Must Go On" πŸž‚ β†— by Queen, "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" πŸž‚ β†— by Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus, as well as "Someone Like You" πŸž‚ β†— by Adele and "You Make Me Feel So Young" πŸž‚ β†— by Frank Sinatra, which two she had posted to her Instagram.

Guest appearances

In May she performed with David Foster on the piano at the Race to Erase MS Gala in Los Angeles. She apparently sang "Lean on Me" in a joint vocal performance.

In June she sang several songs, including her original "Shield", for world leaders such as former US President Barack Obahma at the Brilliant Minds Conference in Stockholm, Sweden.

Concerts

In July, she had a small Summer concert tour in Norway, with only two known locations in Norway. She mostly sang songs she did perform live before, with "Stay" πŸž‚ β†— and "When We Were Young" πŸž‚ β†— being the only new additions to her live repertoire.

Other activities

Angelina's grandmother Mery started her Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz YouTube channel in sommer, and posted over the course of the next 12 months several hundred videos related to Angelina, including concert recordings, rehearsals, behind the scenes videos, and home stories.

In October, the second season of the TV talent show America's Got Talent: The Champions was recorded, which was aired in early 2020.

2020

America's Got Talent: The Champions

In early January Angelina's audition at America's Got Talent: The Champions was aired, where she performed her own stripped down version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" πŸž‚ β†—. Even the legendary group Queen, who created the groundbreaking original with lead vocalist and the song's author Freddie Mecury, shared the performance on her socials, with the words "Wow! What a rendition of #BohemianRhapsody @angelinajordanA πŸ‘πŸ‘ #AGTChampions"[23]

She received the "golden buzzer" by Heidi Klum, and thus proceeded directly to the final, where she performed Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" πŸž‚ β†—, as well in a stripped down version, which was similar to that of Sara Bareilles. While again receiving big praise from the judges, she was not voted into the final five contestens by the 50 so called "superfans" in the voting body.

She nonetheless had another final performance of Lewis Capaldi's "Someone You Loved" πŸž‚ β†—, joined by fellow contestant violin child prodigy Tyler Butler-Figueroa and illustrated live by sand artist Kseniya Simonova.

Even though she did not win the show, it led to her biggest viral sucess yet, especially in regards to her US audiance. She later commented several times, e.g. before performing the song at concerts, that this rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsoday" had "changed [her] live in so many beautiful ways". One major reason for that assessment will be seen in he next chapter.

Recording

On 2020-01-24, a different recording of her version of "Bohemian Rhapsody" was released as a digital single πŸž‚ β†—.

A week later, the "Above the Water" digital single was released by TRXD, featuring Angelina on an EDM track. πŸž‚ β†—

Stargate collaboration

Her rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" was noticed by the successful songwriting/producer dou Stargate, who then contacted her. This lead to the creation of several songs, including "Million Miles". This was played by one of the producers for Republic Records co-founder and CEO Monte Lipman, who then got interessted in signing Angelina to his label.

Republic Records

In late August it was announced that she had signed with Republic Records.

In early November, "Million Miles" was released as the first single with the label. It was initally augmented with a lyrics video πŸž‚ β†— with visual illustrations by her and Mery, and then followed by an "Live in Studio" version πŸž‚ β†— in December, and a music video πŸž‚ β†— for the single in late January of 2021, featuring her sister and her uncle as actors.

Other activities

Due to the COVID-19+ pandemic, there were no concerts this year.

The "Smile" documentary movie about late Norwegian poker player Thor Hansen was published in November, featuring her recording of the song "Smile"(here in the trailer video πŸž‚ β†—).

In summer, the Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz channel by Mery stopped posting after about a year of activity. This might have been related to Angelina signing with Republic Records. Also Angelina herself practically ceased the posting of songs or song snippets to her YouTube cover channel and to her social media accounts.

2021

No concerts & TV appearances

At least partially due to the COVID-19+ pandemic, there were no public concerts and no TV appearances this year.

Recording

Besides the already mentioned release of the music video for "Million Miles" in late January, her second single with Republic Records, the song "7th Heaven" (which was also co-written with Stargate) got released in March. Similar to "Million Milles", it was first shortly followed by a lyrics video πŸž‚ β†—, then augmented by an "Official Studio Performance πŸž‚ β†—, and later in July also a music video πŸž‚ β†— was released.

She might have recorded her cover of "Mercy" πŸž‚ β†— this year (or the year before), which was used in the The Hating Game movie soundtrack that premiered later the year.

Likely she had a lot more of unknown recording related background activities this year. Glimpses of that could be seen on her social media, e.g. like an Instagram post↗ from November where she was meeting Jimmy Z in the studio.

Other activities

Cover channel

Angelina reactived her Angelina Jordan CoverChannel in early spring, after an 18 months break, starting with Adele's "All I Ask" πŸž‚ β†—. She uploaded several cover songs with videos of professional production quality over the course of six months, but then finally quit uploaded to it in October. These include a jazzy version of Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean" πŸž‚ β†—, and a cover of Adele's "Easy on Me" πŸž‚ β†—, which she pubished only 11 days after the original song was released. This was the last video she published on this channel – later covers were uploaded to her Angelina Jordan Official channnel.

Virtual Royal Visit

In one of those uploads we get to see her contribution of "Heal the World" πŸž‚ β†— to the first Virtual Royal Visit from Norway to California by Prince Haakon of Norway, which took place in late April.

Republic Records "Switch Hit"

A cover of "When You Believe" πŸž‚ β†— was uploaded to Republic Records' YouTube channel, with an akward intro which we try to skip... Though this might have been planned as series featuring also other artists by Republic, there were no other songs released in this format.

New TikTok account

In late spring she started to post on TikTok.

The Hating Game movie soundtrack

In December the movie The Hating Game and its soundtrack premiered, where her recording of "Mercy" was used in the opening scene πŸž‚ β†—.

Online Christmas Show

In December, just before Christmas, she had an Online Christmas Show from the Republic Records studio, performing in total seven songs joinded by renown musicians, including Jimmy Z. Here she premiered "Jingle Bell Rock" πŸž‚ β†— and "You Say" πŸž‚ β†— (though the latter one to a backing track). Recordings of four of the song performances were later used on her 2023 Christmas EP.

2022

Recording

At some point in 2022, Angelina and songwriter Toby Gad got to work together, and reportedly recorded several songs together, including "Bad Valentine" πŸž‚ β†—[24].

Likely also most songs from the Old Enough EP were recorded this year, or even earlier.

As we know from examples like her collaboration with Stargate and with Toby Gad that only a fraction of songs written and recorded get published, it can be assumed that she recorded many more songs which not have surfaced yet (and likely most never will).

Summer concerts

After a pandemic induced break of almost 3 years, she again performed live in public this year. She performed twice in Sandjeford, Norway, on July 1st and July 10th.

Between that, on the 7th, she also performed at the Kongsberg Jazz Festival.

On all the occasions she performed with the same small jazz band as in 2018, except for again a different drummer, and the setlists had big overlaps. Besides her latest two original songs, she added "Bad Romance" πŸž‚ β†—, "Mercy" & "Killing Me Softly with His Song & "I'm Not the Only One" (three in one clip πŸž‚ β†—), "Love on the Brain" πŸž‚ β†—, "Mount Everest" πŸž‚ β†—, "Tears Dry on Their Own" πŸž‚ β†—, "The House of the Rising Sun" πŸž‚ β†—, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'" πŸž‚ β†—, "Suspicious Minds" πŸž‚ β†—, and "You Don't Own Me" πŸž‚ β†— to her live repertoire.

TV appearances

In late June she had performed "Bohemian Rhapsody" πŸž‚ β†— and "I Have Nothing" πŸž‚ β†— at Allsang pΓ₯ Grensen.

In early August, the NRK TV show Festivalsommer aired an interview and the performances of her two original songs, "Million Miles" πŸž‚ β†— and "7th Heaven" πŸž‚ β†—, from the earlier Kongsberg Jazz Festival concert.

Unforgetable Gala

In December Angelina performed at the 20th Unforgetable Gala, a celebration of the Asian community, performing "Bohemian Rhapsody" πŸž‚ β†— and "I Have Nothing" πŸž‚ β†—. These were both different from earlier performances, possibly because she was apparently having a cold: in "Bohemian Rhapsody" she replaced the central belt with a head-voice run (and continued to to so in the following years), and she cut "I Have Nothing" short (which she did not repeat later).

2023

TV appearances

The Best FIFA Awards 2022

In late February Angelina performed "We're the Best" (in FIFA livestream↗) with RedOne at the The Best FIFA Awards 2022 in front of world famous association football stars. Unfortunately, there had been audio issues in the broadcast.

A clip showing her with stars like Lionel Messi and Kylian MbappΓ© went viral and gathered many million views, becomming her most sucessful TikTok video as of early 2026.[25]

Germany's Next Top Model

In May she appeared in an episode of Heidi Klum's Germany's Next Top Model TV show. She performed Valerie, Love on the Brain, and One Moment in Time. None of the songs was played in full length, and from the latter only a brief section from the end was used. However, Heidi Klum posted at least the "Valerie" πŸž‚ β†— performance in full length on Instagram.

SoFi ads

Starting in October, SoFi used Angelina's original song "Our Time" πŸž‚ β†—, which was then also released as a digital single, for TV commercials πŸž‚ β†—.

Nobel Peace Prize event

In December she performed "Unchained Melody" πŸž‚ β†— with KORK at the NRK A tribute to Narges Mohammadi TV show for the honor of the Nobel Peace Prize recipiant Narges Mohammadi. As Mohammadi was imprisoned in Iran, her children were instead present. Angelina also performed her original song "Love Don't Let Me Go" with KORK at the event, but that was not aired, but posted by Angelina πŸž‚ β†— about a year later.

Recording

In early May her third original song with Republic Records, "Love Don't Let Me Go" πŸž‚ β†—, was released, together with a simple music video, called a "visualizer".

In June, her six-track Old Enough+ EP was released, containing "Love Don't Let Me Go", and five more new original songs. For the second track on the EP, "Now I'm the Fool" πŸž‚ β†—, a music video was released, showing her performing the song in the studio. The rest of the songs ("Fire and Rain" πŸž‚ β†—, "All My Fault" πŸž‚ β†—, "Good in Goodbyes" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Diamond" πŸž‚ β†—, ) received only very simple visualizer videos.

As mentioned above, her original "Our Time" was released as a single in October, without being further promoted.

In early December her five-track digital Christmas EP Driving Home for Christmas was released. It contained a cover of the title giving song πŸž‚ β†— by Chris Rea, and four recordings from her 2021 Online Christmas Show ("Let It Snow" πŸž‚ β†—, "Jingle Bell Rock" πŸž‚ β†—, "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" πŸž‚ β†—, and "The Christmas Song" πŸž‚ β†—).

Headlining Concert

In September she had her first big US headling concert in Portsmouth, New Hamshire. Here she performed all six original songs from her new EP for the first time in public (and for some titles apparently the only time), some originals and covers she had done before, and performed for the first time live the George Michael cover "Careless Whisper". As there is no good recording of that performance available, here is a short version recorded at her Republic Records studio πŸž‚ β†—, which she had posted earlier in June.

Le Bal des DΓ©butantes 2023

In late November she participated as dΓ©butante at Le Bal des DΓ©butantes 2023 in Paris, and performed "Can't Help Falling in Love" πŸž‚ β†—.[26][27]

2024

Collaboration with Toby Gad

In May Angelina announced a collaboration with songwriter/producer Toby Gad in a livestream from his studio πŸž‚ β†—, and that she will be performing BeyoncΓ©'s "If I Were a Boy" (which Toby had co-written with BC Jean).

Recording (courtesy of Republic Records):

They published several songs, both covers and originals, on Toby's Kite Records label:

Guest appearances

They had guest appearances performing "If I Were a Boy" live at the follwong occasions:

In addition Toby joined in on two of her headlining concerts this year, which we will discuss below.

Headlining Concerts

From now on Angelina was supported by Anthony Harvey as music director, and also many other band members played in most or all of the following concerts (as of early 2026). She had four concerts at three dates/locations this year.

Las Vegas concerts

On leap day in late February, she had two back to back concerts at the International Theater of the Westgate ressort in Las Vegas. This is the very same stage, where Elvis had his residency with more than 600 shows.

She played less orignals than in her previous concert in Portsmouth, but premiered an unreleased original song, "Princess of Ruins" πŸž‚ β†— (which as of early 2026 has still not been released for purchase or streaming).

In additon to some known originals and covers, about half of the songs performed were covers which she played either for the first time live – like "All I Ask" πŸž‚ β†—, "Hero" πŸž‚ β†—, "Moon River" πŸž‚ β†— (only in first show), "My Funny Valentine" πŸž‚ β†— (only in second show), and "One Moment in Time" πŸž‚ β†— – or for the first time in a long time – like "Diamonds Are Forever" πŸž‚ β†—, "Feeling Good" πŸž‚ β†—; and "Stay" πŸž‚ β†—.

Alex Theater, Glendale

On 2024-09-20, the same day as her original "Bad Valentine" was released, Angelina had a concert at the Alex Theater in Glendale (just north of Los Angeles), where she premiered the song live πŸž‚ β†—. Toby Gad joined the band on piano for this title and two more songs he had co-written, namely "All of Me (John Legend song)" πŸž‚ β†— in a duett with Scott Hoying, and an unreleased original, "Thank You" πŸž‚ β†—, done in reggae style.

For the first time (and as of early 2026 the only time) she had opening acts for her concerts, which were first Toby's daughter Mae Mae, and then Scott Hoying, known from Pentatonix.

In the second half of the concert, she was for a couple of songs accompainied by Jimmy Z (who had already played with her in the 2021 Online Christmas Show), such as "I'd Rather Go Blind" πŸž‚ β†— (which he knows very well from touring with Etta James for years).

Other songs she performed here for the first time live were "Set Fire to the Rain" πŸž‚ β†—, "Right Here Waiting" πŸž‚ β†—, "Love in the Dark" πŸž‚ β†—, "Where Do Broken Hearts Go" πŸž‚ β†—, "My Way" πŸž‚ β†— (as encore), and another unreleased original, "What Am I to You" πŸž‚ β†—.

Christmas Special, El Rey Theater, LA

On 2024-12-14 Angelina had a Christmas Special, LA at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles. She was again joined by Toby Gad and Jimmy Z.

Toby accompainied her on keyboard on two of the songs they had co-written, which were the jazzy, Piano Diaries version of "Bad Valentine πŸž‚ β†—, and a stripped down version of "Thank You" πŸž‚ β†—.

She played all the songs from her 2023 Christmas EP, including the title giving Chris Rea cover "Driving Home for Christmas" πŸž‚ β†—.

She also played these covers for the first time (or for the first time in years) live: "Last Christmas" πŸž‚ β†—, "Dream a Little Dream of Me" πŸž‚ β†—, "It's a Man's World" πŸž‚ β†—, and "I Will Always Love You" πŸž‚ β†—.

God Morgen Norge TV interview

In early June she is interviewed πŸž‚ β†— in the God Morgen Norge morning show on Norwegian TV. A short clip from her socials performing "All of Me" by John Legend is shown, but she does not perform any song in the show.

Other activities

Collaboration with AurΓ©lien Froissart

Angelina collaborated with AurΓ©lien Froissart during her stay in London in May, performing several songs ("Back to Black" πŸž‚ β†— (for the first time with the original lyrics live in public), "Bohemian Rhapsody" πŸž‚ β†—, "When We Were Young" πŸž‚ β†—, and "Love Don't Let Me Go" πŸž‚ β†—) at a public piano at the St Pancras train station, which were shared on Instagram, TikTok and YouTube over the course of the following year.

A Family Affair Netflix movie

At the end of June the Netflix movie A Family Affair is published, which uses her recording of "The Christmas Song" from her 2023 Christmas EP.

Rumors about leaving Republic Records emerge

In early November plans to seperate from Republic Records are rumored.

2025

Recording

Independent again

Angelina apparently got independent again, likely by early in January+, but confirmed only in May.

Unreleased older songs teased

Throughout the first half of the year, she and Mery teased various older unreleaseed songs, but those were as of early 2026 not released.

Original albums with lyrics by Mery

Plans to publish those older songs were apparently canceled or postponed in July, when Mery announced an new album without the help of external songwriters, just with songs written by Angelina with lyrics based on Mery's poems.

Secret of the Soul

During the third quarter, they recorded this album, again with the help of her music director Anthony Harvey, and likely with musicians of which some are known from her 2024 & 2026 concerts. It was then released as Secret of the Soul on 2025-09-09. It was not released on YouTube or YouTube Music, but on all other major music platforms for purchase and streaming.

Secret of the Star

Recording likely commenced right away with songs for her 7-track Secret of the Star Christmas album, which was released on 2025-11-18, and also was based on the same collaboration between Angelina and Mery. While no videos were uploaded to YouTube, the album was released on YouTube Music and thus shows automatically up on a "Release - Topic" channel↗, which however was not linked to Angelina's YouTube channel.

No TV appearances nor concerts

Melodi Grand Prix participation canceled

While she was set to participate in Melodi Grand Prix, which is the Norwegian selection contest to determine the Norwegian entry act into the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC), she canceled her participation reportedly in early January.[28]

Concert announced for January 2026

While she had no concerts in 2025, there was an early announcement in June[29] for a concert in Las Vegas some time in January of the following year, which then took place on 2026-01-31 at the same stage as in 2024.

Other activities

Simlish version of "Our Time"

A Simlish language version of "Our Time" πŸž‚ β†— was released in early March as part of an "The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies extension pack" for the The Sims 4 computer game.

Now You See Me: Now You Don't movie

"Diamond" from her Old Enough EP is used in the Now You See Me: Now You Don't+ πŸž‚ β†— movie, which started to play in cinemas in mid November.

Online Christmas Show

In December, on the day before Christmas eve she had an Online Christmas Show, consisting essentially of music videos showing a live band performing with her the seven songs from her latest Christmas album Secret of the Star, but with all the audio coming from the recorded album tracks. There was also a small interview section in the middle. Remarkebly, despite departing from Republic Records earlier in the year, this was filmed in the Republic Records studio, with Rob Christie being the MC.

2026

Concert

On 2026-01-31 Angelina had a concert in at the International Theater in the Westgate Resort in Las Vegas.

She performed five orginal songs from her recently released album Secret of the Soul ("No One Can Hear My Heart", "Home", "So Peaceful Beside You", "Summer Wind", and "Play No Game").

She sang another five original, yet unreleased songs, that were later published as the first tracks on the Secret of Love album ("Still Standing", "Mi Amor", "Bel Air", "Memories", and "You Know When It's Gone").

She also performed eight cover songs, including "Tennessee Whiskey" πŸž‚ β†— and "Purple Rain" πŸž‚ β†— (as encore), which she performed for the first time known live in public.

This concert was the first in her career where she played more original songs than cover songs.

Recording

In early March she released the 12-track album Secret of Love as the third one of the collaboration effort with Mery. As Secret of the Soul, it was not released on YouTube or YouTube Music, but on all other major music platforms for purchase and streaming. However, it was published under her full name "Angelina Jordan Astar", so these are not accessible via her usual "Angelina Jordan" artist profiles.
