Angelina Jordan Wiki:Extensions
The following MediaWiki extensions↗ have been specifically enabled by the admin on this wiki. See Special:Version for other skins, libraries, and parser extensions ("tags" and "hooks") that are supported by default. See also AJW:Updates for other major changes to the software and its configuration, and to the website in general.

Bundled extensions that are not currently in use include:
AbuseFilter↗, CiteThisPage↗,ConfirmEdit↗,DiscussionTools↗, ImageMap↗, InputBox↗,Interwiki↗,Linter↗, LoginNotify↗,Math↗, MultimediaViewer↗, Nuke↗,OATHAuth↗,PdfHandler↗, SecureLinkFixer↗, SpamBlacklist↗, TitleBlacklist↗,VisualEditor↗
Extensions that are crossed out have been deleted entirely. DiscussionTools, Math, VisualEditor, and OATHAuth were removed to save disk space. The others were removed because they seemed to be especially useless for this wiki (actually, the deletion of Linter was a mistake… but whatever).
Requests
Requests to enable extensions can be made on the talk page. Extensions that need to be downloaded separately are less likely to be approved than those that come bundled with the software, especially if they are not available through mw:Special:ExtensionDistributor. Extensions used on Wikimedia wikis, or that otherwise appear to be well maintained and/or widely used, are more likely to be approved.
Being considered
The following non-bundled extensions that are not bundled with MediaWiki are being considered. These would need to be downloaded separately, sometimes directly from a Git↗ server, making their installation more difficult and perhaps more error-prone.
- To make the site more secure or easy to use in general:
- Extension:CodeMirror↗ – potentially better syntax highlighting than Extension:SyntaxHighlight↗ currently in use, plus other features when editing (not to be confused with Extension:CodeEditor↗, which is already enabled on this wiki)
- Extension:Lockdown↗ – allows certain expensive pages to be denied to anons (read: bots) when other methods are not working
- Extension:MobileFrontend↗ – to make the site more usable for mobile users?
- For custom page headers and/or footers:
- To provide preloaded text when creating pages:
- Extension:NamespacePreload↗ – per-namespace approach to preloaded text (would be automatic, as opposed to having the user actively choose it, as with MultiBoilerplate)
- Extension:Preloader↗ – another option
Not being considered
Bundled extensions:
AbuseFilter↗ ✘ – very few editors, so no need for anti-abuse measuresConfirmEdit↗ ✘ – anons cannot edit, so no need to confirm editsDiscussionTools↗ ✘ – nice to have, perhaps, but takes up a lot of disk spaceInterwiki↗ ✘ – seemed unnecessary, and most of its functionality was merged into the core with MW 1.44↗, anyway (note: we are still running 1.43)Linter↗ ✘ – accidentally deleted, but no urgent need to detect and fix syntax errorsMath↗ ✘ – we shouldn't need to display fancy mathematical expressionsOATHAuth↗ ✘ – didn't seem necessary and uses a lot of disk spacePdfHandler↗ ✘ – no plans to have the wiki work with PDFs natively (they can't even be uploaded)VisualEditor↗ ✘ – uses a lot of disk space
(Note that it is possible to reinstall and enable a deleted extension. If necessary, this can be requested on the talk page.)
Non-bundled extensions:
Extension:FlexForm↗> ✘ – not sure what this actually does; using PageForms "instead"Extension:Semantic MediaWiki↗ ✘ – seemed like severe overkill; installation looked difficult; using Cargo insteadExtension:VisualData↗ ✘ – only development version in Special:ExtensionDistributor↗; no information about what wikis are using it; using Cargo insteadExtension:WikiDB↗ ✘ – less mature option; download only at third-party wiki; no indication of what wikis use it; using Cargo instead
