Angelina Jordan Wiki:Compared to Wikipedia
From Angelina Jordan Wiki
For people familiar with Wikipedia↗ and other Wikimedia wikis↗, here is a quick (very incomplete) overview of some of the similarities and differences between the technical features and conventions here on this wiki and those at Wikipedia, et al.
| Similarities | Differences |
|---|---|
| We use the same MediaWiki software, and some of the same extensions and skins. | Many extensions used on Wikipedia have not been installed or enabled here. (See our Special:Version vs. theirs↗ for details.) |
| Some templates here have the same basic functionality as the corresponding ones at Wikipedia. | Many templates used on Wikipedia are not here at all or work very differently here. Please do not copy templates as-is from other wikis, as they almost certainly will need to be massively rewritten before they are suitable for use here. (But if you do create a template here based on one at another wiki, please note this in the edit summary↗.) |
| Same category feature. | Not so much bias against "overcategorization"↗. For example, all templates here are categorized in Category:Templates and various relevant subcategories. |
| Largely the same emphasis on citing sources for factual information and avoiding mere opinion. |
No strong bias in favor of independent↗, second- and third-party sources↗ and against primary sources↗. Because of the nature of the subject matter, many statements will be cited to primary sources here (e.g., text and videos posted online by Angelina or her family). Also, not quite the same bias against "original research"↗, as long as any inferences are acknowledged and based on sourced information. |
