Documentation

This template is used to attribute uploaded YouTube thumbnail images to their corresponding YouTube videos and channels. It should only be used in the "Summary" section of pages in the File namespace.

The name of the template is based on the phrase "youtube video thumbnail summary".

This template is used on a great many pages. Making any changes to it will cause lots of jobs to be added to the processing queue.

Usage

The value of the v parameter (or the first unnamed parameter) should be the YouTube video ID number (i.e., what immediately follows "v=" in the URL) of the page for the video corresponding to the thumbnail.

In the fourth form shown above, channel-name is required but the parameters after that are optional. Only one of channel, user, and c should be used (with that order of precedence if more than one of them is specified), depending on which form is used in the URL of the channel. Alternatively, as seen in the third form, none of these can be used if you don't want to link to the channel for some reason (for example, if it has been deleted). But linking to the channel page is preferable, since that's usually where the thumbnails actually come from.

In cases where the video ID contains underscores, these will, by default, be shown as spaces in the page title. This behavior can be overridden by using the parameter show-underscores set to any non-whitespace value (which can be used in any of the usage forms). For example, if show-underscores=y is used in this template on the page File:YTjnnzbdt4 RE.jpg, then the page title will appear as File:YTjnnzbdt4_RE.jpg.
