This template outputs the single character # as the HTML entity #. This is necessary in certain situations to avoid the character being interpreted as wiki markup.

Any input passed to the template is ignored.

The name of this template is based on the word "number".

This template is used on a great many pages. Making any changes to it will cause lots of jobs to be added to the processing queue.
