Recording dates of singles and albums

Posting here to provide a place to put this info removed from the article.[grin] I admit, I didn't check all the timeline entries before adding my HTML comments.
Also, regarding this edit: I wonder whether we know enough to say the "Bohemian Rhapsody" single was actually recorded in 2019. Is there evidence for this? It might have been a decision they made after the AGT audition went viral. It seems to be a simple enough recording that they could have recorded, mixed, and released it in just a few weeks (2019-01-06 to 2019-01-24). It was never a physical release, only digital, right? - dcljr (talk) 08:06, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

No, I don't have real evidience that "Bohemian Rhapsody" was recorded in 2019. It occured to me as likely, when Kseniya Simonova revealed in an answer to my comment that her prior copy from "Someone You Loved" was not (as assumed by many before) from the stage rehearsal, but to a studio recording (made for her practicing, I assume). Thus I imagined that Angelina might have had also a studio recording for her practicing, that she later used, also because that released track is by many described to being somewhat lackluster compared to the stage performance, indicating that it might indeed be from a reheasal (other's had claimed it would have been from the stage rehearsal, which is also possible). But thinking about it now, it might be as likely that there was just an instrumental recording for her to practice, and she then recorded the song only in early 2020 onto that. Or there was none at all, as the shared SYL sand artist performance did need more preperation than the competition acts. But then, getting the musicians together (it would be interesting to check if those on the show were from AGT, or if she brought them) would have made it even harder to record and release the song in just 18 days or less.
And yes, I think its release was only digital. The only physial releases of hers I am aware of are Angelina Jordan – The EP (plus the It's Magic and Melting, though both are not actually her own releases, I'd say), plus that copies of Secret of the Soul were sold at the last concert, but I'm not aware that they are being sold elsewhere yet.
BTW, what do you know about the often repeated story that Queen gave her the copyright to that song version? I assume that people mistake the performance copyright with the songwriters copyright, but maybe there was a comment of hers or Michael on their socials (including Patreon), to which I don't have access to? I recall that sometimes it's also said that Brian May called her? Other's had pointed out that the song was written by Freddie Mercury, so Queen doesn't even have the rights to do so (as those went to Mary Austin). --Most2dot0 (talk) 09:28, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
I do recall personally noticing that there was an AJ copyright on her release of BR, but I can't remember for sure now whether it was a (C) or a (P) and where I saw it. According to my bookmarks, the original 2020-01-23 upload of BR (nominally released on 2020-01-24), which was "Provided to YouTube by DistroKid" and which I bookmarked on 2020-05-19, but which is no longer playable, had a "Ⓟ AJ Inc" on it. (The video description is now empty and the video itself unlisted. It does still exist, though, because I see a flash of the cover image before YT blacks it out and tells me the video is not available.) So, I guess that's where I (and perhaps other people) saw that information. As for all the other stories about it, I don't recall anything from my direct experience beyond the post by Queen, which I did see at some point. - dcljr (talk) 13:10, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
