Angelina Jordan Wiki:Extensions

The following MediaWiki extensions have been specifically enabled by the admin on this wiki. See Special:Version for other skins, libraries, and parser extensions ("tags" and "hooks") that are supported by default.

Extensions that were downloaded from MediaWiki.org's Special:ExtensionDistributor or from elsewhere are so noted. The others came bundled with the MediaWiki software.

Bundled extensions that are not currently in use include:

AbuseFilter, CiteThisPage, ConfirmEdit, DiscussionTools, ImageMap, InputBox, Interwiki, Linter, LoginNotify, Math, MultimediaViewer, Nuke, OATHAuth, PdfHandler, ReplaceText, SecureLinkFixer, SpamBlacklist, TitleBlacklist, VisualEditor

Extensions that seem especially irrelevant here have been crossed out.

Requests to enable extensions can be made on the talk page. Extensions that need to be downloaded separately are less likely to be approved than those that come bundled with the software, especially if they are not available through mw:Special:ExtensionDistributor. Extensions used on Wikimedia wikis, or that otherwise appear to be well maintained and/or widely used, are more likely to be approved.

Bundled extensions being considered

We may be getting these extensions soon:

  • Extension:DismissableSiteNotice – may have issues; looking into this
  • Extension:Poem – provides functionality very difficult to get otherwise; might be helpful for lyrics and quotes from social-media sites ✔ enabled 2025-09-15
  • Extension:TemplateData – for easier (??) documenting of templates ✔ enabled 2025-09-15
  • Extension:TemplateStyles – would largely replace the current awkward approach of cobbling together style information in templates like {{box-top}}; also allows for easy targeting of different skins and form factors (print, mobile, etc.) ✔ enabled 2025-09-15

Non-bundled extensions being considered

The following extensions that are not bundled with MediaWiki are being considered. These would need to be downloaded separately, sometimes directly from a Git server, making their installation more difficult and perhaps more error-prone.

Finally, the following extension looks interesting, but I'm still not sure what it actually does:

Data handling

We currently have a "manually" implemented "Data:" namespace holding JSON-formatted content for use in Lua modules. There are extensions that provide rich data management features automatically. We need to consider which of these, if any, suit our needs.

For more information/context see Manual:Managing data in MediaWiki. Note that Extension:Wikibase is not even being considered.
