Angelina Jordan Wiki:Extensions
The following MediaWiki extensions↗ have been specifically enabled by the admin on this wiki. See Special:Version for other skins, libraries, and parser extensions ("tags" and "hooks") that are supported by default.
Extensions that were downloaded from MediaWiki.org's Special:ExtensionDistributor↗ or from elsewhere are so noted. The others came bundled with the MediaWiki software↗.
- Extension:Cargo↗ (downloaded per instructions↗)

Bundled extensions that are not currently in use include:
- AbuseFilter↗, CiteThisPage↗,
ConfirmEdit↗, DiscussionTools↗, ImageMap↗, InputBox↗,Interwiki↗, Linter↗, LoginNotify↗,Math↗, MultimediaViewer↗, Nuke↗, OATHAuth↗,PdfHandler↗, ReplaceText↗, SecureLinkFixer↗, SpamBlacklist↗, TitleBlacklist↗, VisualEditor↗
Extensions that seem especially irrelevant here have been crossed out.
Requests to enable extensions can be made on the talk page. Extensions that need to be downloaded separately are less likely to be approved than those that come bundled with the software, especially if they are not available through mw:Special:ExtensionDistributor. Extensions used on Wikimedia wikis, or that otherwise appear to be well maintained and/or widely used, are more likely to be approved.
Bundled extensions being considered
We may be getting these extensions soon:
- ReplaceText↗ – provides global find-and-replace functionality based on regular expressions↗
Non-bundled extensions being considered
The following extensions that are not bundled with MediaWiki are being considered. These would need to be downloaded separately, sometimes directly from a Git↗ server, making their installation more difficult and perhaps more error-prone.
- To make the site more secure or easy to use in general:
- Extension:CodeMirror↗ – potentially better syntax highlighting than Extension:SyntaxHighlight↗ currently in use, plus other features when editing (not to be confused with Extension:CodeEditor↗, which is already enabled on this wiki)
- Extension:MobileFrontend↗ – to make the site more usable for mobile users?
Extension:DismissableSiteNotice↗ – may have issues; looking into this✔ enabled 2025-09-29
- For page headers and/or footers, replacing the MediaWiki:Sitenotice and MediaWiki:Anonnotice hack currently in use:
- To provide preloaded text when creating pages:
- Extension:NamespacePreload↗ – per-namespace approach to preloaded text (would be automatic, as opposed to having the user actively choose it, as with MultiBoilerplate)
- Extension:Preloader↗ – another option
- using forms to aid in page creation
Data handling
We currently have a "manually" implemented "Data:" namespace holding JSON-formatted↗ content for use in Lua modules. There are extensions that provide rich data management features automatically. We need to consider which of these, if any, suit our needs.
Extension:Cargo↗ – supposedly "lightweight" (requires Git download)✔ downloaded and enabled 2025-09-21Extension:Semantic MediaWiki↗ – looks like severe overkill; installation looks difficult✘ trying Cargo insteadExtension:VisualData↗ – easy to download and set up (but only development version in Special:ExtensionDistributor↗); has an uninstall script; no information about what wikis are using it✘ trying Cargo insteadExtension:WikiDB↗ – less mature option; download only at third-party wiki; no indication of what wikis use it; probably not in the running✘ trying Cargo instead
For more information/context see Manual:Managing data in MediaWiki↗. Note that Extension:Wikibase↗ is not even being considered.
