Time zones

Time zones that are particularly relevant to Angelina include Central European Time (CET/CEST/CEDT) used in Norway, and Pacific Time (PT/PST/PDT) and Eastern Time (ET/EST/EDT) used in the western and eastern United States, respectively. Most places in both countries observe daylight saving time, for which times are shifted an hour later in the warmer months of the year.

Central European Time

Wikipedia has information about:

Time in Norway

Norway, where Angelina was born and spent much of her childhood (at least ages 7 through 11), uses Central European Time (CET), which (when daylight saving time is not in effect) is one hour later than Coordinated Universal Time (i.e., UTC+01:00). From late March to late October, times shift an hour later than that (UTC+02:00), which is known as Central European Summer Time (CEST) or Central European Daylight Time (CEDT). (Note that the information in the previous sentence holds from 1995 onwards. For the situation before then, see the Wikipedia article "Time in Norway".)

Pacific Time

Wikipedia has information about:

Time in the United States

The west coast of the United States, where Angelina has lived since 2018, uses Pacific Time (PT). In the colder months of the year, it is referred to as Pacific Standard Time (PST), for which times are 8 hours behind Coordinated Universal Time (UTC−08:00). From early/mid-March to early November, times are shifted one hour later (UTC−07:00), which is known as Pacific Daylight Time (PDT). (Note that before 2007, the timing of daylight saving time in the U.S. was different. See "Daylight saving time in the United States" for details.)

Websites and apps

YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram have all used Pacific Time to date posts and uploads in the past. This appears to have changed recently in the case of YouTube, which now shows dates to users based on the their local time zone. The exact time a video was uploaded (in ISO format) is visible in the HTML of video pages in "meta" tags and JSON attributes called "uploadDate" and "datePublished"; these still use U.S. Pacific Time.

It has not been determined what time zone TikTok uses.

Eastern Time

Eastern Time (ET) is the time zone of the east coast of the United States. (One reason this is relevant to Angelina is because the timing of music releases are typically tied to this time zone, as described below.) In the colder months of the year, it is known as Eastern Standard Time (EST) and times are 5 hours behind UTC (UTC−05:00). From early/mid-March to early November, it is known as Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) and times are 4 hours behind UTC (UTC−04:00).

Music releases

Major record labels (like Republic Records) tend to time their music releases (singles, EPs, and albums) for midnight Eastern Time in the early morning of the official release date (i.e., 12:00 a.m. on the day of release).

Dates on this wiki

Because of time zone differences, a YouTube video posted early in the morning in Norway may appear to someone in the U.S. to have been posted the previous day; and a video posted late in the evening in Los Angeles may appear to someone in Europe (say) to have been posted the following day. For this reason, dates used on this wiki for YouTube videos may be a day off either way from their actual upload date from the perspective of the uploader. This problem is just starting to be addressed in mid-2024 by using new parameters in relevant templates.
