Documentation

This template is used to mark statements of opinion (as opposed to statements of fact, which is mainly what this wiki is supposed to be about). It can either be called with no input after a phrase, sentence, or paragraph containing such text or with the relevant text provided as input to the template, as seen in the examples below.

Articles containing calls to this template are listed in Category:Articles containing opinions so they may be improved in the future (for example, by finding a source that supports the opinion with facts, quotations, etc.).

Usage

  • {{opinion}}
  • {{opinion|text|reason=}}
  • Text.{{opinion|reason=|scope=}}

Examples

  • According to many vocal coaches, {{opinion|she has excellent "technique"}}.
    ⇒ According to many vocal coaches, she has excellent "technique".
  • According to many vocal coaches, {{opinion|she has excellent "technique"|reason=Can we get specific examples?}}.
    ⇒ According to many vocal coaches, she has excellent "technique".
  • According to many vocal coaches, she has excellent "technique".{{opinion}}
    ⇒ According to many vocal coaches, she has excellent "technique". !
  • According to many vocal coaches, she has excellent "technique".{{opinion|scope=sentence}}
    ⇒ According to many vocal coaches, she has excellent "technique". !

The way this statement is phrased is problematic, since it cites no facts to back up the subjective assessment being referred to. It would be preferable to actually cite some specific reaction videos, say, where vocal coaches have expressed this opinion. That way the statement could be rephrased a bit into a statement of fact (i.e., this specific vocal coach said this specific thing).
