Up to around age 12 or 13, the appearance of Angelina's teeth (assuming they can be seen well enough) provides a decently reliable method of dating footage of her, when that information is not known through other means. In order to be able to do this, one needs a general idea of how her teeth changed over time, as well as good images of her teeth on various specific dates. The purpose of this page is to present that information and imagery.

Human teeth

First, a review of the basic facts about human teeth, including some terminology that will be used in subsequent sections.

During their lifetimes, most humans will "go through" two sets of teeth, popularly known as "baby teeth" and "adult teeth". Baby teeth are also known as primary teeth, because they come in first, or deciduous teeth, because they fall out during childhood, to be replaced by adult teeth. A full set of baby teeth consists of 20 teeth, 10 on the top and 10 on the bottom (or 5 in each "quadrant" of the mouth: upper-left, upper-right, lower-left, and lower-right). Adult teeth are also known as permanent teeth, because once they come in, they are supposed to last for the rest of ones life. A full set of adult teeth (most commonly) consists of 32 teeth (16 top and 16 bottom, or 8 in each quadrant), although it is not uncommon for people to develop more or fewer than this number. It is much less common for babies to develop more or fewer than the typical count of teeth.[1]

Teeth are classified by their relative position along (each side of) the jawline, with (usually) 4 teeth of each class.

For babies, the 20 teeth are classified as:[1]

  1. central incisors, commonly known as "front teeth"
  2. lateral incisors, or laterals for short, which are the teeth to either side of the front teeth
  3. canines, behind the laterals, as we move back along the jawline
  4. first molars, just behind the canines
  5. second molars, at the very back of the jaw

Most babies are born "without teeth" — that is, before their teeth have erupted (emerged from the gumline) and become visible. The central incisors typically erupt first (more specifically, usually the lower central incisors), at around 6 months of age, beginning a process known as "teething". Eruption continues in roughly the order listed above (the laterals often being next to emerge, followed by the canines, etc.), with the lower teeth of each type generally emerging earlier than the upper (on the average, in the population as a whole), until around 25–33 months of age, at which point most babies have a full set of primary teeth.[2]

Most children start to lose their baby teeth at around 6 to 7 years of age, with the lower central incisors, again, commonly being the first to go. The order that baby teeth fall out varies greatly from person to person, but generally (when averaged across the entire population) roughly matches in the order in which they emerge (lower teeth earlier than upper, central/front teeth before outer/rear teeth).[2]

For adults, the 32 teeth are classified as:[1]

  1. central incisors, or front teeth
  2. lateral incisors, or laterals for short
  3. canines
  4. first premolars (these replace the first primary molars)
  5. second premolars (these replace the second primary molars)
  6. first molars (these, and the rest in this list, are present only in adults)
  7. second molars
  8. third molars, also known as "wisdom teeth"

Development

Angelina apparently began to lose her baby teeth when she was 5 or 6. In the YouTube video Angelina Jordan singing when she is 5 years old, posted to the Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz channel on 2019-09-10, she appears to be missing either her right lower central incisor and the lateral next to it, or her two lower central incisors — it's hard to tell. By the time of her early studio work at Bjerke Lydstudio, she had a full set of lower teeth (although which were already adult teeth and which were still baby teeth isn't clear). Unfortunately, the claim that she was 5 in the aforementioned video is questionable, since Juliette is referred to by name (by Angelina) in the video, and she seemingly wasn't born until nearly two months after Angelina turned 6. (Granted, they could have already known the gender and settled on a name two months before she was born, but it seems just as likely that the age is wrong in the title, because other videos on that same YouTube channel give the wrong age in their titles.)
