Usage

Using unnamed/positional parameters

• {{ytv|id|linked text}}
• {{ytv|id|linked text|t=timepoint}}
• {{ytv|id|linked text|t=timepoint|note=additional text|accessed=access date}}
• {{ytv|id|linked text|t=timepoint|before=text before link|after=text after link|accessed=access date}}

Note that the t named parameter can appear between the id and linked text positional parameters, but that just looks kinda weird.

Using named parameters

• {{ytv|vid=id|vtitle=Video Title}}
• {{ytv|vid=id|t=timepoint|vtitle=Video Title}}
• {{ytv|vid=id|t=timepoint|vtitle=Video Title|note=additional text|accessed=access date}}
• {{ytv|vid=id|t=timepoint|vtitle=Video Title|before=text before link|after=text after link|accessed=access date}}

Not all parameters can be used together, as some override others.

Parameters

1 or vid

video ID

the identifier for the video assigned by YouTube (needed to link to the video)

example value: aHGSsqQOs5I

2 or vtitle or linktext

video title

this doesn't necessarily have to match the title used by YouTube, but that's a reasonable title to use

this is the text displayed as an external link

example value: Angelina Jordan (13) - When We Were Young - Prøysenhuset, Rudshøgda, Norway - 07/12/2019

note

any note you want to appear immediately after the link (template provides a space between the link and the note)

this parameter is overridden by after if both are used

example value: (live in concert)

before

any text you want to appear before the link (including trailing space as, if necessary — use   for normal space characters or   for a non-breaking space)

example value: YouTube video: 

after

any text you want to appear after the link (including leading space, if necessary — see parenthetical remark for before)

overrides the value of note, so both cannot be used at the same time

example value: &160;(YouTube)

accessed

access date

this can be used to indicate the last date at which the information is known to be accurate (since, for example, videos may be renamed, deleted, made private, etc.)

the template does not do any checking that this is an actual date, so any format can be used

example value: 2020-10-24

"Hidden" parameters

This parameter is also understood by the template, but should generally only be used in template documentation

nocat

no categorization on missing input

this makes the template not place pages in Category:Template calls needing input when no input is found (should not be used in articles)
