"At Last" is a 1941 song written by Mack Gordon and Harry Warren for the musical film Sun Valley Serenade↗. Performed by John Payne and Lynn Bari (whose vocals were overdubbed by Pat Friday) accompanied by Glenn Miller and his orchestra, the song was deleted from that film prior to its release, remaining only in the form of instrumentals. The following year, the song appeared in the film Orchestra Wives↗ in a version also performed by Miller's orchestra and sung by Ray Eberle and Lynn Bari (again dubbed by Pat Friday).[1]
The song saw some chart success in versions recorded by Miller in 1942 and by former Miller trumpeter Ray Anthony in 1952, but is most known today in the form of the 1960 recording by Etta James used as the title track of her debut album↗. Other well known versions of the song include covers by country artist Gene Watson in 1991, and by pop stars Celine Dion in 2002, Beyoncé in 2008, and Christina Aguilera in 2012 (performed at James' funeral).[1]
Angelina has covered the song several times from age 8 onwards, beginning likely with a guest performances at the ColorLine Stadium in Ålesund in summer 2014. She then performed it later in the year at shopping center concerts, and at the Orkla Growth Award ceremony on 2014-11-10 and at the TV 2's Artist Gala benefitting Plan Norway on 2014-12-13. She also sang it live at Nattjazz Festivalen in Bergenon {{2014-05-31]], at Morodalsfestivalen in Austvatn on 2015-06-13, at the Hemnes Boat & Fjord Festival on 2015-06-28, at the Ajyal Youth Film Festival in Doha on 2015-12-05, and in a concert in Kolbotn on 2017-01-08.
